One of the most well-known tree planting projects is the #teamTrees initiative, led by the YouTube philanthropist MrBeast. So far, he has managed to plant more than 24 million trees, according to the official website. The project works on the principle of voluntary donates, for every dollar collected, one tree is planted. Big names from the tech world have been involved in the planting, including Tobi Lutke from Shopify, Elon Musk, Marc Benioff from Salesforce and Susan Wojcicki from YouTube.
Environmentally focused Artificial Intelligence
Microsoft, for its part, has launched AI for Earth, a program that focuses on solving environmental problems with the help of artificial intelligence. In addition to monitoring the current state of forests, it has pledged on its official website to plant one million trees by 2025 and plans to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030. Apple has made a similar commitment through itsRestore Fund project, which aims to promote sustainable forestry and the planting of new trees. Other FAANG leaders, namely Alphabet, Meta and Amazon are also trying to follow the same path.
Investing and planting trees in one
The brokerage company Wonderinterest Trading Ltd also joined the green initiative, joining forces with the Sázíme Česko project. The company will plant one tree for opening an account and for every $1,000 deposited into a client's trading account. The first spring planting took place on 24 April 2023 near Prague with the participation of approximately 40 members of the company's team. Despite the rainy weather, they managed to plant approximately 1,000 trees. For cooperation, we choose partners for whom long-term responsibility for life on the planet is a priority. This value is also reflected in our activities as an investment company, and we are glad that through this project we are giving our clients the opportunity to improve the quality of life on Earth," said Matěj Homola, Executive Director of Wonderinterest Trading Ltd. It was estimated that at least 10,000 trees would be planted under the auspices of Wonderinterest in the first quarter of this year, but the investments of clients in the first four months of the year exceeded all expectations and has long surpassed this number.
