Questions and answers:

What does a financial analyst like Olivia do?

Financial analysts monitor economic data, market reports, and factors affecting asset prices. Olivia works mainly with fundamental analysis, a method that evaluates actual economic and macroeconomic contexts. Her findings help investors understand why markets rise, fall, or stagnate.

What areas of investing does Olívia Lacenová specialize in?
Olivia Lacenová analyzes movements in the prices of stocks, bonds, precious metals, and other commodities, as well as market reactions to geopolitical events. She monitors and comments on modern investment trends—technologies, indices, growth sectors with an emphasis on sustainability, and ESG investments. She examines how international events, political decisions, and regulatory changes affect markets, investments, and the economic environment.
Is it worth investing in gold or commodities?
Olivia is a big fan of gold, which she considers to be the most noble of precious metals and the best refuge in times of turbulence on the capital markets, as its price tends to rise during periods of geopolitical tension, high uncertainty, or rising inflation. She considers it an important part of a diversified investment portfolio and an excellent store of value. At the same time, he adds that gold is a great choice primarily for a long-term investment horizon. With other precious metals, such as silver or copper, greater cyclicality must be taken into account. Their price is more closely linked to industrial demand, the technology sector, and energy.
What are green investments and why are they growing in popularity?
Green investments are investments whose main objective is to finance activities with a demonstrable positive impact on the environment. However, we encounter two terms: green investments and ESG. While green investments focus primarily on the environment, i.e., the letter E (environment), the term ESG investing also includes social (S) and governance (G) factors. And why is interest in them growing? A comparison of MSCI World ESG with the "classic" MSCI World shows that over a 5- to 10-year horizon, the ESG version has an average annual return that is approximately 1 percentage point higher. In addition, ESG funds and indices fell less than the market as a whole during the first months of the pandemic. A similar development could be observed during the energy crisis following Russia's attack on Ukraine.

Institutional ESG assets under management are estimated to increase to tens of trillions of dollars by the middle of this decade, which in itself attracts other investors, as everyone wants to be where the capital is flowing. For the average investor, this means that ESG assets make sense as part of a portfolio, not just as a "moral" choice.

What is fundamental analysis and how does it help people who are starting to invest?
Fundamental analysis is a method of evaluating company shares that focuses on their actual economic performance, financial statements, and position in the industry. The goal is to estimate the intrinsic value of the company and compare it with the market price so that investors can determine whether the stock is undervalued or overvalued. Unlike technical analysis, it focuses on the "quality of the company" rather than chart patterns.
